Public Access to Court Records

The disputed claims proceedings arising from the liquidations of The Home Insurance Company and US International Reinsurance Company are administered by The Office of the Liquidation Clerk, under the supervision of the Merrimack County Superior Court.

In keeping with the policy of the Judicial Branch of the State of New Hampshire to allow public access to court records, the records concerning the disputed claims proceedings are available for public inspection at The Home Insurance Company in Liquidation, c/o Merrimack Superior Court, 5 Court Street, Concord, New Hampshire 03301.

We suggest that you call in advance to schedule an appointment to inspect records, due to the fact that we have limited staffing; during such times that hearings are scheduled, staff may be unavailable to produce records or otherwise assist you.  Upon request, appointments will be promptly scheduled.

Persons seeking access to records shall be required to specifically identify by document number or case name the files to which they seek access.  Access to large numbers of records at any one time shall not be permitted.  Persons inspecting files may make notes and request copies.  Copying fees will be charged at a standard rate.

Contents of disputed claims files are public records (in accordance with Douglas v. Douglas).  Access will not be permitted to those records ordered sealed by the Referee during the disputed claim proceedings.

The Office of the Liquidation Clerk also maintains all Merrimack County Superior Court files pertinent to the ongoing liquidations.  All pleadings, orders and submissions filed with the Merrimack County Superior Court relating to the liquidations are posted on this website.  Visitors to the Office of the Liquidation Clerk who request access to the Merrimack County Superior Court files will be offered the opportunity to view such court documents on-line on a computer monitor and/or granted access to the file records.   Access will not be permitted to those records ordered sealed by the Merrimack County Superior Court.
